NUM’s work “Nothingness; Life, Nothingness“, which can be considered as an electroacoustic or sound art project, is a suite of three parts dedicated to the three stages of the time; past, present and future. After discussing various ways of picturing these stages, the duo ended up with the graphic score that describes how life works through time with translating this mechanism to musical contents such as duration, dynamics, pitch, or sonic textures.
The project won the Radio Lab call which is a commissioned by the Berlin based festival CTM, supported by Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Goethe Institute, and The Wire magazine. This piece is recorded at the end of January 2020 in Berlin during the duo’s stay for CTM festival where they performed it live.
