NUM, an interdisciplinary duo currently based in Calgary, is pleased to present their distinctive blend of sound art and electronic music performances. Established in 2010 in northern Iran and relocated to Calgary in 2021, NUM has gained international exposure through performances at festivals and venues across Europe, West Asia, and Canada. The duo seamlessly integrates various artistic disciplines, including electroacoustic music, sound art, and computer programming, featuring interactive lighting and visuals.
NUM offers two sets of live Performances:
1. Live Set in Stereo Audio Format:

Format: Live electronics, processed voice/instruments, and interactive lights

Description: This live set offers a combination of intricate rhythmic patterns, harmonic textures, and digitally processed instruments/live vocals. Drawing inspiration from various musical genres, the performance is a hybrid machine-human system blending generative music and electroacoustic music performance. An interactive lighting module, designed by NUM, complements the performance with visual effects, responding to the nuances of the music.

Technical requirements: The audio format is stereo plus a subwoofer if applicable. The lighting option, adaptable to venue specifications, includes DMX lights and lasers that can be programmed in advance if venue technical details are provided.
2. The Living Sonic Organism (hybrid performance/installation with spatial audio):

Description: This immersive interactive sonic arts system intertwines sound installation, interactive lights design, and live sonic arts performance. Combining spatial audio, generative music, interactive audio systems, and electroacoustic music, this project creates a living sonic environment that is alive from the moment the audience enters the space until the end of the performance. Described as a "living organism," the system interacts with the audience, controlled in real time by both humans and machines. NUM offers a dynamic, ever-evolving sonic experience, with the performance/installation featuring interactive stations for audience participation.
